PCU Community Foundation lived its mission in 2009
The PCU Community Foundation continued its mission in 2009 to support local education initiatives, help stock local food shelves, and strengthen the quality of life in our communities. Among the many benefactors were:
- Local food shelves – A total of $1,250 was given to help feed struggling local families.
- SHE – A young women's empowerment group that held a fashion show to raise funds for a local women's shelter. The foundation donated $200 and served as the event sponsor.
- First Lady's Military Family Care Initiative – The foundation collected $2,000 to support Minnesota Military families whose loved ones have been called to active duty.
- Backpacks for a Cause – The foundation contributed $500 to PCU's Backpacks for a Cause effort, in which 50 school supply-filled backpacks were donated to local women's shelters in August.
- West Heights Alternative Learning Center – A $150 donation was made to help purchase a new picnic table for the school.
- Credit Unions for Kids – The foundation donated $250 to the Minnesota Credit Unions for Kids organization, which helps raise money for Gillette Children's Specialty Hospital in St. Paul.
Every dollar received by the PCU Community Foundation goes back into our local communities. Read below to learn more and make your donation today!
Who we are
Established by PCU in 2005, the PCU Community Foundation is a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) dedicated to helping communities in the greater Twin Cities metropolitan area.
The foundation operates under the guidance of a Board of Directors, which oversees its financial management. The board also sets policies and procedures for fundraising and grant making in accordance with its by-laws and mission.
By investing in education, financial literacy and our communities, we can ensure a greater quality of life for all residents.
Our mission & goal
The mission of the PCU Community Foundation is to strengthen the quality of life within our communities by supporting local education initiatives at a variety of levels, including early childhood development, financial literacy programs in our elementary and secondary schools, and beyond.
Our goal is to build an endowment fund to help fill the gaps in education funding and provide educators with additional resources otherwise not available.
Who we serve
The foundation serves the following benefactors:
- Early childhood development
- Elementary, secondary and post-secondary schools
- Financial literacy programs for youth and adults
- Local Food Shelves
- And more!
The PCU Community Foundation also has a partnership with NEFE, the National Endowment for Financial Education. NEFE's missions is to help individuals acquire the information and skills needed to take control of their financial destinies.
As funds grow, we hope to add affordable housing initiatives to this list of recipients. With your help all of this is possible!
